Mr Rose died of Leukaemia aged 73.

On a personal note, I remember fondly the day that he presented me with my bid volunteers pin at the old bid company headquarters in Kent Street.  It was truly an honor to meet such a wonderful ambassador for sport and such a complete gentleman.
