Sport Matters – Spring Sail 2013


Sport Matters invites you to join the inaugural ‘Sydney Spring Sail’ on Sunday 22 September 2013.

The Sydney Spring Sail coincides with Sport Matters birthday and we would love for you to join us for a spectacular two-hour cruise on Sydney Harbour on board the Southern Swan, an authentic 1920’s Tall Ship.

Departing from Campbell’s Cove in The Rocks we shall set sail for a glorious experience! The Sydney Spring Sail will cruise past all the iconic landmarks including Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Fort Denison, Garden Island, Luna Park and Admiralty House.

The proceeds of this event will support Sport Matters work using sport to empower individuals and unite communities in Australia, the Pacific, Asia and Africa.

When: Sunday 22 September
Time: 11am – 1pm
Cost: $120 per adult

Tickets include a two-hour sailing experience on an authentic Tall Ship, a delicious and substantial finger food meal and drinks.

Be at Campbell’s Cove wharf at the Rocks by 10.45am to make sure you don’t ‘miss the boat’!

National Wheelchair Basketball Finals

The 2013 Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League Finals will be held at the Sydney University Sports and Aquatic Centre, Darlington Rd, Darlington from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th September.

NSW has two teams, the Stacks Goudkamp Bears and the Sydney Uni Flames that will be competing for the National title! Entry Cost is a Gold Coin donation at the door.

September 23rd marks the 20th Anniversary of the announcement of Sydney as the host of the 2000 Olympic Games.

Dani Samuels makes Discus Final

Australia’s Dani Samuels has made the final of the Women’s Discus at the 14th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow, Russia.

Dani threw 62.73m, 62.51m, and 62.85m to qualify 7th for final which will take place at 0235 on Monday morning EST.

Dani was the youngest person to claim World Champion in this event when she won at the 2009 IAAF World Championship.
